Replica Builds, Sesame StreetThis is a quick image guide on how I built my Elmo replica. I tried to provide a lot of pictures for you to give you ideas on how you can build your own. Enjoy and feel free to ask me anything.
Tracing and cutting out fur pattern.
Boil fur.
Trace and cut out foam pieces.
Glue foam together with contact cement.
Sew fur pieces together.
Build mouth plate.
Attach mouth plate to foam skull.
Place skull into fur head/body.
Start test fit of eyes.
Paint eyes.
Build and paint hand rods.
Design and build foam legs and feet.
Sand and form nose from styrofoam egg.
Build eye plate to attach eyes.
Design and build foam hands and attach rods.
Build inside arms with beads and attach to arm rod.
Cut out pupils from black velvet sticky paper. I used a Cricut to scale and get perfect cut.
Trim fur, attach arms, legs, eyes, and nose.
Hello, I am trying to build an Elmo puppet like you. I was wondering if you could give me info on things like how big the nose is, or how wide are the arms.
The arms are 14″ long from shoulder to tip of finger. The nose are these 2.7″ x 2″ styrofoam eggs from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CTD5S8X7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but you can see from my post I shaved off the back of it a bit.
